What the judges said…
Ranked in the top 10% of Tripadvisor listings worldwide, the Great Tapestry of Scotland visitor centre in the Scottish Borders offers an exemplary five-star inclusive experience, which has been widely praised for making history, heritage and culture accessible to all. This is a testament to the care, creativity and dedication of the centre’s brilliant team led by Sandy Maxwell-Forbes, and the many community voices who have helped shaped the whole experience – from the making of the Tapestry to the development of the visitor centre. Designed to welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, the experience has evolved through thoughtful consultation with visitors, advocates and community groups – ensuring everyone feels valued, respected and able to connect with Scotland’s story in a meaningful and enriching way.
The Great Tapestry of Scotland creative team – stitchers, artist, historian and writer – and all of us who worked to bring the tapestry into being, will i’m sure join forces in echoing these words and offering our thanks to Sandy and her team at the centre who work tirelessly to achieve a superb visitor attraction.
