We are delighted to report that, following a difficult few years post Covid, the team at The Great Tapestry of Scotland visitor centre is now in a position to offer all of the original stitchers FREE access to the gallery for life. If you worked on a panel, this is your chance to take them up on their invitation to visit more often. They know that the cost has been off-putting for some and, having navigated the difficult post-covid years, the team are now in a position to make this gesture to the creators of this wonderful work of art.
Jan Rutherford is delighted to continue working with those at the centre in its development.
Sandy Maxwell Forbes, Director of the visitor centre commented:
‘Frankly, it’s time to celebrate you, our stitchers, and the extraordinary work you brought to life. This is your artwork. Born from imagination, patience, and no small amount of determination, it began as a slightly mad dream and became something truly remarkable. Because of that, we are delighted to introduce free access for you, giving you greater freedom to enjoy the tapestry whenever you wish. Simply bring your stitcher card with you and you will receive free personal access for life.
We are also deeply grateful for everything you continue to do in championing the work, encouraging visitors through our doors, and speaking with pride about what you helped to create. Your role didn’t end with the final stitch, it’s ongoing, and it matters. This is our small way of saying thank you with heartfelt appreciation for all that you have already given and continue to give.’
