100 Years Young – The National Library of Soctland
Wishing all at the National Library of Scotland a very happy 100th birthday today from your friends at Birlinn. We hope much cake is being consumed!
Do take the opportunity to visit over the summer weeks and find out more about the history of this remarkable resource in the heart of Edinburgh. Legal deposit copies of every single book published in the UK are held here in the stacks below ground level. The role of the library is to ‘collect and preserve the memory of the nation on behalf of the people of Scotland’ and they do this brilliantly through early printed materials to modern manuscripts, film and maps.
You can see more about what’s on and explore the Centenary Time Machine Trail at this link. The exhibition is free to visit.
